Small things.....

One of the things I adore about being mummy to a very active and enthusiastic (almost) 14 month old is just how interesting he can find the smallest and simplest things. He has boxes of toys to stimulate and amuse him, but does he play with these? Of course not! He plays with Mummy's bright pink stool that helps me reach the top kitchen cupboards, with rolls of tape, with any piece of paper he can lay his hands on, and, one of his current favourites, our cat's tail!!! So this weekend we popped down to see Grandma and Grandad, and as I took the chance of a few moments to crochet in relative peace while others were keeping an eye on the little...

What a week!

I have been um-ing and ah-ing about what to write about for my first 'proper' post, but then today we have had a momentous day in our family - baby J is no longer a baby and is now officially a toddler (cue soft sobs into motherly handkerchief!). He finally took his first completely unaided steps about 2 weeks ago, and we've been doing the walking-from-mummy-to-daddy ever since, but always very shaky and freqently getting so excited and pleased with himself that he would fall over. And then a couple of days ago. We had a really good night (which as anyone who knows us will tell you is not normal!), and he woke up with such an excitement...

About Me

Hi! I'm Rachel and I'm a 30-something stay-at-home mum with a lovely husband and a gorgeous little boy. I love Jesus, my family, crochet, cooking, sewing, card making, scrapbooking ... pretty much any crafts at all! Quite ordinary in lots of ways - but my life is quite different to most people's - you see, my hubby is in the merchant navy. He's a Staff Captain (which doesn't mean he's in charge of the staff as you'd imagine, he's actually second in command) with Princess Cruises, which means that he spends two thirds of the year on a cruise ship, usually on the other side of the world. Sometimes I go with him, but sometimes I stay at home. And this blog is my way of sharing my weird little world with anyone who might be interested. So thanks for visiting, and I hope you enjoy ...
